I have been in the fitness industry for over five years and have been personal training for three years. As a youth I played competitive sports such as ringette, softball and soccer. Two years ago I decided that I wanted to take my general fitness to the next level. I started weight training with a personal trainer and my goals were to be healthy and strong. This is when I was introduced to power-lifting and bodybuilding. After seeing results as quickly as I did I knew that this was not just a phase but a lifestyle for me. I am a competitive bodybuilder and am always looking for new ways to push my fitness to the next level.

I enjoy personal training because it allows me to interact with so many different people and share my love of fitness with them. It is rewarding for me to see the people I train improve everyday. Having personally worked with a trainer towards specific goals has enabled me to recognize how diverse, fun, challenging and fulfilling fitness and a healthy lifestyle can be. This sense of well-being empowers me to motivate and inspire others to achieve their goals and also to make healthy lifestyles changes.

I enjoy working with clients at any fitness level. I am most passionate and creative with clients who are willing to put forth the effort and commitment towards an intense workout program. My success depends on your success. Together we partake on a journey that will change all aspects of your life. I love watching as people become happier, healthier and more active, outside of the gym, as they reap the benefits from our time together. Life is that much sweeter when you are a part of it.

What started out as an irregular pastime has flourished into my passion, my energy and fortunately enough, my career. Fitness has become my life, through and through… from everyday health to nutrition to training… fitness is my life and I wouldn’t have it any other way. I was lucky enough to have been exposed to the art of bodybuilding at a young age, which has garnered a plethora of experience, knowledge and excitement for me. I have always been surrounded by positive influences in the field of fitness and personal training and I continue to learn everyday from all directions, from my fellow trainers, fellow fitness enthusiasts and most importantly, my clients.

Growing up I was always one of the smaller guys, skinny and “vertically challenged” if you will. I was always heavily into a variety of sports like hockey, football and soccer, but I was still one of the “small” guys and my stature couldn’t take me very far. From sports, I discovered the intense drive that stemmed from the adrenaline and sheer mental and physical intensity of competitive sports, but still I always looked for more. In trying to become a better athlete through daily exercise I truly uncovered my calling in life. I unearthed the sport and the art that was bodybuilding. It gave me the drive, the focus, and the explosion that sports had given me before…. but at the same time gave me a much more competitive and demanding opponent… myself.

My fitness background is made up from a broad spectrum in the fitness field. I have the majority of my experience in the form of bodybuilding and weight-training but also I have experience and time stemming from sports specific training, strength and conditioning exercise and last but not least, endurance athletics (triathlon, marathon prep). However, more and more, as my experience builds I am integrating all forms of training into more holistic, everyday, functional programming.

Training and fitness has become my life, through and through. There are no bigger opponents out there than Mother Nature and your inner self and with personal fitness and bodybuilding… I fight them both everyday and I can’t ask for much more than that. I love the concept of body transformation, I see it in myself, my training partners and my clients’ everyday… there is no better thrill than to watch yourself change and transform everyday. To know that you are in control of that change, that transformation, that power is insanely satisfying and rewarding.

My workout style is a mix of my roots in personal fitness, a combination of bodybuilding and pure athletics. This is a very unorthodox approach to the gym, coming from both ends of the spectrum, but it is very successful when approached from the right angles. This makes the workouts extremely high tempo, very demanding, rigorous, intense but most importantly self fulfilling. There is no half-assing and everything is all-out… all the time.

My workouts give you the ability to know for a fact that you gave it your all and you left everything you had out on the gym floor… where it belongs.

My whole life growing up revolved around sports. I spent every moment playing any sport I could. After graduating I then moved to Alberta and started at Red Deer College for Engineering. I became interested in the fitness industry first as a stress reliever and it quickly became a passion for me. I changed my major to Kinesiology gaining my diploma in fitness and health promotion. I started to enjoy power lifting and bodybuilding learning from some very talented lifters. Upon completing my diploma I decided to continue for my degree in Physical Education with a concentration in Activity and Nutrition. This was a great experience allowing me to work with elite athletes at the University in the Sports and Performance Laboratory.
As a trainer I am always looking to grow. I look for new methods and styles of training as well as sources of nutrition to utilize. I currently am an avid amateur body builder and enjoy sports such as hockey, golf, squash and soccer.

With this knowledge I aspire to help people obtain their fitness goals whether it is for health, performance or aesthetic changes in their physiques. I utilize a combination of my experience in sports, bodybuilding and knowledge from my schooling. I take a very holistic approach to this with both the nutritional and physical aspects and combining them for people to reach their maximum potential. I enjoy seeing the changes people make and how those changes can affect their life, self-esteem and day to day living.

I enrolled at the Alberta Institute of Massage to become a registered massage therapist where I graduated with Directors Honors. I have found these two professions compliment each other very well and have significantly increased my knowledge of the human body and what it is capable of.

I have gained a vast amount of experience in sport specific training and have had the opportunity to work with and observe some of today’s top professional and amateur athletes. I have enjoyed working with these individuals, and am always looking for ways to continually increase my knowledge as a trainer in such a diverse industry. My greatest fulfillment comes from helping my clients reach their goals and watching their confidence and self-esteem soar. With that being said, I will strive to help my clients obtain there fitness goals, no matter how small or large they might be, and to overall, help people to live a better, healthier quality of life.

As a young girl I was always very active and highly involved in competitive sports. At only 5′2” my attitude to succeed (despite my height) created a very driven and goal oriented perception in sports and in life. At the age of 15 I began to see a future emerging from my after school sports. I could see myself achieving much higher standards which led me to pursue dry land training to become the best athlete I could be. It was at this time where I realized my love and passion for health and fitness pushing me to pursue a career in the health and wellness field.

Growing up I competed at the Canada Winter Games for hockey in 2003 (Bathurst, NB) and the Canada Summer Games for Fastball in 2005 (Regina, SK). I also competed at 7 national championships for Fastball travelling across North America as well as playing international competition from such as Chinese Taipei and the Philippines. In my last year I was honoured to receive all-star second basemen at the national level and to be voted defensive MVP through my team. Alongside fastball my true love for sport has been based around hockey. Leaving home at a young age I graduated from Notre Dame College, a prep school with excelling athletics out of Wilcox, SK. From there I was lucky enough to receive a scholarship to the University of Regina playing on the women’s hockey team. The last five years I spent living in Regina, SK where I received my Bachelor of Kinesiology majoring in Fitness and Lifestyle. Alongside my degree I am also certified as a personal trainer (CSEP-CPT) and have my level 1 in both hockey and softball. Through my last 5 years I have gained a vast amount of experience in sport specific training, strength and conditioning as well as core and balance work.

I truly believe that fitness needs to be incorporated into people’s lives as a habit rather than a chore. As a born leader, I thrive at the opportunity to motivate people and to help them reach levels of fitness and nutrition goals they never thought possible. I am very passionate about what I do, and give my clients a 110% effort every time they step into the gym. I love knowing that my time spent with a client could change their life forever and what they once thought was only a dream became reality. The quote below is what motivates me to strive for success every day I wake up, let it motivate you to make the first step to a healthier life!

“Dream as if you’ll live forever, live as if you’ll die today”

After I graduated I went on to play volleyball in college.

It was an easy decision for me to enroll in a Bachelor of Science program with a major in Kineseology since I had always been so involved with sports. I love learning about how the body works and how exercise can change it! Once I finished playing volleyball I transferred to the University of Lethbridge where I completed my degree.

While I was attending U of L, I found myself becoming extremely interested in Exercise Physiology. This gives me the knowledge to get the best results for my clients. I love sharing my passion for an active lifestyle with everybody and I find it really exciting to see people start to make positive changes in their lives.

I furthered my education by obtaining certifications in AFLCA group training, TRX Suspension Training, Bender Ball and IFLOW Resistance Training. As a trainer I love to see my clients succeed, whether it’s through resistance training, nutrition or weight loss. My training style is tough, but I love to have fun. Working out should never be dreaded or boring. I want to motivate you to take care of yourself and laugh a little (between the grunts!).
